NOTE: Recent update allows you to go to File > Load&Replace. Which makes changing characters for an interaction trivial, rendering this guide Obsolete.
But it is here if you want to know more.
A quick but likely Temporary guide for replacing/updating characters in an interaction.
You want to replace the characters for your interactions, right?
Well it is currently slightly difficult, but this guide will easily show you how to do so and as easily as possible.
Know that each step is important.
There are 2 known methods, we will start with the most accessible but less easy.
Make sure to read both methods!
Each character has a “hash” file that is the real character file used for interactions. The name is a jumbled mess of numbers.
To find the names, the characters must be within the loaded interaction. Otherwise, use this method: [How to Find Hash Names]
Anyways, Click on the upper menu: Debug > Manifest
Underneath a character, is their Hash.
Click once on the numbers to highlight the entire thing, and copy it.
Now paste it somewhere as “OLD”
Re-Export your desired updated characters from Character Creator (for interactions)
And import them in an empty/new interactions. ←(This is important because it will create a new Hash file)
Do the same as before, find their Hash (Debug > Manifest).
Copy it and paste the numbered hash name somewhere as “NEW”.
Now, go to: %appdata%/FurryVNE/Cloud/Interaction/Characters
You can press WINDOWSKEY+R and paste that address to find the folder directly, and press OK.
You should be in this folder where you have a bunch of hash character files.
This is the weird part.
(This is why you have the OLD and NEW hash names pasted somewhere for easy access and to not be confused)
When this is done, you should have successfully fooled the interaction into loading the new re-exported characters.
You can completely replace characters with this, although if their sizes are completely different with new assets here and there, do not expect a fluid transition. This is mostly only for updating characters of the interaction with the same character but newer version of them.
Next method is easier, but slightly tech savvy if you can follow through.
In character creator, export the character for Interaction.
Save the file and bring that file over to %appdata%/FurryVNE/Cloud/Interaction/Characters folder.
Copy the name and Delete the Old .fvne_compiled_character character file by searching for the Hash name in the current folder.
You know what name it is if you followed Step 1, method 1.
And now As an example…
Rename: Cody the alpaca.yl2fc to 1de06549e0ef0be5c968c1eba2d943d2e97e150b6a020f8cb0a55ff53f51909f.fvne_compiled_character
You are renaming the interactions exported character to the Hash which is the garbled mess including the extension of .fvne_compiled_character.
That means, you are changing the file type .yl2fc into a .fvne_compiled_character file type by simply renaming it as such.
